FEDERAL EMPLOYEES w/DISABILITIES (FEDup)

Membership in FEDERAL EMPLOYEES w/DISABILITIES (FEDup) has trippled all most over night. However, there are some 600,000 yes thousand Just in the Postal Service who should be in the first line of support for this effort as well as many more thousands in other Government Service. None of you, who haven't experienced the trauma of an employment injury or occupational disease problem, can really know what it is to have to mortgage your home again, go without some or maybe most of the family needs while going throught the "ropes" of the "injury compensation" department of the Postal Service along with the hassle of the Office of Workers Compensation "OWCP" of the Labor Department to get some relief. This means waiting and waiting, filling out forms, different medical exams, in the Postal Service at least, harrassment, controverting of your claim, (fighting to keep you from having any pay for the injury or occupational disease) interfering with your selected medical practicioner as to what they have available for light/limited duty or how you could not have been injured or have an occupational disease.

The Postal Service selected (make that paid) medical practicioner who all ways sees things their way, to hassle you more, or trying to get you to do some things that you know are hurting you or making you injury worse.

This group/association of employees or former employees, some have been terminated because of an injury or occupational disease, who have been or had an on the job injury or occupational disease, so far mostly POSTAL WORKERS, have joined together in spirit and effort to resolve the ineptness of the Postal Service handling, the waiting and delays of the Office of Workers Compensation Programs shortage of help to adjudicate the case load, the poor treatment given to those who do get a limited/light duty assignment and on and on.

The effort/s are to be all LEGAL, firm but not destructive or violent.

FOLLOWING ARE THE FEDup GOALS:

1) FEDup wants US Postal Service Employees covered by the WHISTLE BLOWERS ACT. We believe this will encourage postal employees to report inefficiencies and illegal activities in the agency without fear of retaliation or reprisals from management.

2) FEDup is requesting a FULL Congressional Investigation/Hearing of both the US Postal Service and the OWCP to review TOTAL operations of both of these agencies and overhaul where necessary. This includes a hearing before Congress for Federal Employees to express their concerns and complaints regarding their agency.

3) FEDup is requesting policies and regulations in ALL Federal Agencies dealing with employees injured on the job to be fully reviewed and restructured, if necessary, to eliminate discrimination against these employees.

4) FEDup wants immediate action to resolve the continuing backlog of grievances and EEO complaints nationwide in the US Postal Service.

5) Transfer investigation and processing of EEO complaints from US Postal Service paid personnel to the full independent EEOC.

6) Give the Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) the right to place monetary corrections/fines against the US Postal Service and all Government Agencies.

We champion and request each and every injured or occupational diseased employee to do their very best at whatever duty is assigned and within their medical restriction/limitations, so that no one in management can rightfully discriminate/harrass or badger them. So that we EARN our pay for the PUBLIC who pays our wages and can hold our heads up high in defense of the rotten treatment we have and are receiving.

Those of you of whom I spoke at the beginning of this message, who haven't been injured or have an occupational disease, should get behind this activity with your voice, your letters, your phone calls and you moral suport. You could be one of us by accident or poor ergonomics.
