COMMON NAME(S): Flowering Dogwood LEAF: ovate and pointed, often wavy and curled at the edges, green and glabrous on top, glaucous and downy along the veins on the underside BARK: Sepia brown, round-checked, not perpendicularly scored; branches with a generally straggling habit, irregularly divergent FLOWER: 3 to 5 inches across four spatulate oblong bracts, sometimes cordate at the end, arranged in a cross GROWTH: 25 to 40 feet high with low wide crown DISTRIBUTION: Native to the eastern and central United States LOCATION: Chapel Valley Subdivision, Quincy, IL |
