COMMON NAME(S): Tulip Tree 

LEAF: Deciduous; alternate 3” to 5” long with long stalks; 4 lobes glossy bright green above , paler beneath, turning yellow in autumn 

BARK: gray-brown ridged “checkered” 

FLOWER: tulip-shaped wax-like cups; 1.5” to 2” in diameter with 6 greenish-yellow petals (orange at the base); standing upright at the branchlet  

GROWTH: 80’ to 150’ 

DISTRIBUTION: Eastern U.S. to Lake Michigan south to Gulf Coast; native to eastern North America
